2 chronicles 16:9- For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect towards him
Few weeks ago, I went into an office to photocopy some documents and noticed the CCTV monitor at the conner of the room. The monitor had about 14 images displaying live movement of every activity taking place around the whole building. What even fascinated me more was the fact that once movement was spotted by the camera, the image bleeps alerting the security observer that someone was coming into the building. I stared at the monitor for sometime wondering how the human mind was able to conceive such clever ideas.
“So it’s possible for human beings to use technology to monitor fellow humans round the clock?” I thought to myself. Suddenly, the scripture above came to my mind. If men can monitor events like this how much more the God of the whole universe.
Like this scripture says, his eyes runs to and fro throughout the whole earth. He sees everything that happens. He knows the injustice done to men by fellow men which the most intelligent lawyer may not bring full justice for. He can see when you cry and when you laugh. He can see when you pray desperately for his help in an emergency situation. He can see your constant service in church even when no one says thank you.The list is endless what the Lord sees.
Having said this, you will observe that the bible does not just say the Lords eyes sees everything but it adds a very important phrase- to show himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect towards him. This addition reveals what the Lord does with what he sees. Notice that he shows himself strong on the behalf of the believer. He is constantly providing, protecting, guiding and honouring those who turn to him. This means he takes special care of his own.
Just like you are more concerned about your own children than your neighbours, the Lord pays particular attention to those who have made him Lord and saviour of their lives. You may ask- is he not concerned about the sinner. Of course he is because he is constantly calling everyone into his family. However, only those who answer his call gains the full benefits of belonging to him. Just like movements on the CCTV monitor prompts the security team to action, our heart attitude can attract God’s action in our lives.
A question to ponder and reflect on- what does the Lord see when his eyes sees you?
A willing heart turned to him in obedience or a heart that have rejected God? If it’s the latter, consider turning to Christ today. He never cast anyone away no matter how messed up your life may be. Once you do this, you will start enjoying the many benefits of being God’s own. Shalom!
