Why do Christians believe Jesus is the only way, what about other religions?
Jesus didn't leave room for other options. He said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. Not a way. The way. That sounds exclusive because it is.
But here's why. Every other religion operates on the same basic principle. Do enough good works, follow enough rules, and maybe you'll earn your way to heaven or enlightenment or paradise. Buddhism has the Eightfold Path. Islam has the Five Pillars. Hinduism has karma and reincarnation. They all say climb the ladder and hope you make it. Christianity says something radically different. You can't climb high enough.
Romans 3:23 states all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Your best efforts are filthy rags according to Isaiah 64:6. So instead of you reaching up to God, God reached down to you.
That's what makes Jesus unique. He's not just another prophet or teacher or enlightened person. He is God in flesh. John 1:1 and John 1:14 confirm the Word was God and became flesh. He lived the perfect life you couldn't live, then died the death you deserved. He paid a debt He didn't owe because you owed a debt you couldn't pay.
No other religious founder did that. Buddha didn't die for your sins. Muhammad didn't rise from the dead. Confucius didn't conquer death. Jesus did. Over 500 eyewitnesses saw Him alive after crucifixion according to First Corinthians 15. Christianity isn't arrogant for claiming Jesus is the only way. It's actually the most humble religion. It admits you're helpless and need a Saviour.
God Bless
