Spy Wednesday

Spy Wednesday is a sacred pause, a quiet breath before the storm.

After the intensity of earlier days, this moment in Holy Week invites us into stillness.

Jesus withdraws to Bethany, surrounded by close friends, resting and preparing His heart for what lies ahead.

In contrast, hidden in the shadows, betrayal is already unfolding. Light and darkness stand side by side: peaceful trust versus secret plotting.

This day reminds us of something deeply human and deeply holy, the need to rest, to be still, and to draw close to God before life’s hardest moments.

Jesus Himself embraced silence, prayer, and the comfort of friendship. Not as weakness, but as strength.

Spy Wednesday calls us to do the same.

To step away from noise.

To quiet the inner chaos.

To simply be with God.

“In quietness and confidence shall be your strength.”

Strength is not always found in action, it is often born in stillness.

As the Triduum approaches, this is your invitation:

slow down, breathe, and prepare your heart.

Let go of striving. Choose trust over anxiety, presence over distraction.

Like Jesus in Bethany, sit in the quiet. Let His love sink deeply into you. And allow that quiet preparation to become the strength you carry into the days ahead. Amen 🙏
